Definition of - Sustain Habit & Persistence (SHP)
SUSTAINING HABIT & PERSISTANCE (SHP)
GOVERNANCE (GOV) Intent Provides guidance to senior management on their role in the sponsorship and governance of process activities.
Value Minimizes the cost of process implementation, increases the likelihood of meeting objectives, and ensures that the implemented processes support and contribute to the success of the business.
IMPLEMENTATION INFRASTRUCTURE (II) Intent Ensure that the processes important to an organization are persistently and habitually used and improved.
Value Sustains the ability to consistently achieve goals and objectives efficiently and effectively.
In March 2018, a new version of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) and appraisal method were released. This article summarizes the changes and upcoming milestones.
The overall focus in V2.0 has been to drive home the point that the model is about improving organizational capability to improve performance for any type of work (Agile, Waterfall, services, or a hybrid).
Agile definitely demonstrated to be the best approach for organizations to keep up with changes that happen due to economic, social or even health sudden new scenarios: companies are able to quicker and better adapt and proactively respond to disruptions. But, as for any changes, it is hard and it is not for free. It implies the acquisition of new competences, skills and behaviors, which should lead to new organizational processes, structures, models. How much does it cost to create new habits replacing the old one? What we can do to accelerate that process towards more agility?
Abstract The current approach to business management focuses on increasing the performance of business processes. To achieve the required processes performance means to ensure the required quality and capability of processes. The partial aim of this paper is to confirm the positive effects of the Six Sigma methodology (SSM) on the corporate performance in the Slovak Republic and an investigation of the dependency of SSM implementation on the certified quality management system (QMS) as a set-forward condition via a questionnaire survey carried out in Slovak industrial enterprises. The survey results confirmed the above-mentioned assumptions. The SSM using DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) was applied in real conditions of two manufacturing enterprises with a different level of quality management system. The results of the research study proved a possibility to implement SSM and to use the same methods in enterprises aside from a level of QMS. However, more remarkable results were achieved by the enterprise which introduced QMS. The first application of SSM in enterprises within specific conditions of furniture production processes can be considered to be a contribution of the research study, as well. The result of the work is the model including the methodology and the appropriate combination of methods and tools for assuring the sustainable performance of the business processes.
The Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a world-class performance improvement framework for competitive organizations that want to achieve high-performance operations. Today, CMMI has become the de facto standard for information and communications technology (ICT) companies to improve operational efficiencies.
CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV) consists of best practices that address development activities applied to products and services. It addresses practices that cover the product’s life cycle from conception through delivery and maintenance. Organizations from many industries, including aerospace, banking, computer hardware, software, defense, automobile manufacturing and telecommunications, use CMMI-DEV.
It is likely that 2020 will remain in history as the year of COVID-19. The virus has changed everything, affecting personal and professional lives across the globe. Organizations have had to change their ways of working, and as a result, many more people are now working remotely to adhere to social distancing protocols. This has put an extra burden on both public telecommunications infrastructures and each enterprise’s private IT environment.
How could enterprises have been better prepared for this? The answer is IT governance.
Governance links business goals with an enterprise’s IT infrastructure and should be based on guidance such as COBIT® 2019. This framework then needs to be tailored to the enterprise’s needs (design factors): enterprise strategy/goals, risk profile, size, threat landscape, compliance requirements, role of IT, sourcing model for IT, IT implementation methods and technology adoption strategy. Design factors are influenced by management objective priorities and target capability levels, component variation and focus areas (specific governance topics).
Rapid advancements in Software Defined Infrastructure and Cloud Computing have rendered IT infrastructure flexible, intangible, and on-demand. However, infrastructure is not yet intelligent and relies on human intervention to understand the correlation between the different IT elements, recognize data trends and take appropriate action. Artificial Intelligence can bring about a transformation in this arena, and eventually initiate infrastructure that is not only self-driven but also flawless.
The Impact of AI on Infrastructure Management Services The disruption caused by AI seeping into every aspect of digital services is quite significant and can have far reaching implications for software development and IT support service providers. Let's look at how it is affecting IT infrastructure management services in particular -
Two forms of Health Check are offered the Silver Appraisal (SCAMPI B) and Gold Appraisal (SCAMPI A).
Both are led by a Certified CMMI® Lead Appraiser supported by trained Appraisal Team Members.
The primary difference between the two types of Health Check is the level of rigor and the fact that the SCAMPI A Appraisal can provide a Capability Level for each of the PMO Process Area in scope, the results can also be published on the CMMI® Institute PARS Site (Published Appraisal Results) if required.
The key deliverable being a report highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement. This can optionally be expanded into a comprehensive PMO Improvement Plan the implementation of which can be supported by DEMIX Consultants if required.
If your PMO is not adding the value you expected then perform a DEMIX PMO Health Check to find out why!
